Use a Pin Nailer
You can also use a pin nailer to drive the nails onto the wood. The use of this pin nailer can facilitate the securing of the joint, leaving tiny and nearly visible nails along the joints.
You Can Use Spline
Splines are like the gusset. Nevertheless, you can position splines in the middle of the frame’s thickness. You can equip your table saw with a special sled to make this cut onto the frame. You should ensure that the cuts are precise and correct according to the spline’s width. Afterward, you can glue the spline into place and trim it when necessary.
How Do You Make the Miter Joint?
You got several ways to cut the wood to make a miter joint. You can use varying tools and the most common tools you can use are the following:
Use a Table Saw
Before making a cut using your table saw, mark the wood pieces you will cut according to the desired angle. You can utilize a pencil to mark the wood pieces. Besides, after marking the wood pieces, you can set the miter gauge. Ensure that the miter gauge got set at a 45° angle.

Using a Chop Saw

Once done with cutting, you can fit the two pieces together and see if there are still gaps. If there is a slight gap, you can sand the surface to make them snugly fit together.
To join them, you can use a miter adhesive on one face of the cut wood. On the other face to be joined, you can use an activator to ensure that the adhesive will start working after applying pressure to the joint.
Use a Biscuit Cutter

Using the biscuit cutter, you can slice grooves onto each board, then slide a biscuit in between those grooves.
